What does a typical day at work look like for you?

• “My typical day is doing account reviews and meeting with clients to review their financial planning goals.”

What do you like most about your job?

• “Interacting with clients and their families”

What aspect of your job do you find the most challenging?

• “Same as most business owners, finding and hiring quality people.”

How did you get into the financial planning world?

• My first job in this field was in 1987, but I have always been interested in how wealth is created and investments.

What is your favorite moment of your career so far? Favorite project?

• Starting my own business and getting out of the corporate world. Prairie Wealth Advisors was founded in September of 2003.

What are your hopes for the market?

• That we avoid a deep recession.

If you could provide one piece of professional advice, what would it be?

• Don’t overleverage in a slowing economy.

If you could choose another occupation, what would it be?

• Cattle Rancher

What was the first job you ever had?

• Stocking shelves at Gibson’s Department Store.

Before working at your current company, what was the most unusual or interesting job you have ever had?

• Norfolk Rendering Works in Norfolk, NE and I think you all can figure out why.

If you could go back and tell your 18-year-old self one thing, what would it be?

• Start saving money sooner. Get your college degree or secondary training sooner, doing it after starting a family is much more difficult.

What is one skill/ability you wish you had?

• To be a better golfer so that I could play with the AGC ladies.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

• Go hunting

Do you have any hidden talents? If so, what are they?

• My hidden talent is that I don’t have any hidden talents.

If you could be anyone (past or present) for just a day, who would you be?

• Ronald Reagan

What is your biggest pet peeve?

• “Bureaucratic BS”

Favorite restaurant?

• Stokes in Omaha, great lunch spot.
